*THIS PAGE IS DUE FOR A BIG OL’ UPDATE; STAY TUNED!*
Hi! My name is Vikki, and I’m an east coast Canadian gal making a life in the big city of Toronto, ON. Buoy Bird is a take on me and my family (both two and four legged) making a home for ourselves in the ocean that is Toronto. Follow us as we share our home improvements, our crafts, our friends’ talents, and our inspirations.

Arriving in Toronto in 2006 as an aspiring actress, I had no idea that I would ever explore the world of decor, let alone the world of decor and creative blogging. While discovering who I was as a person, I also discovered my love for all things cottage, coastal, and cozy, which came as no surprise as this is exactly the type of home I came from. After dealing with a stint of “everything beige and chocolate brown”, I painted my living room celadon green, and never looked back. It was about this time that I started to discover online articles and blogs about decor, crafts, handmade goods, and general visual inspiration. This inspiration started to manifest itself in my world, and now I take daily pleasure in creating “a home away from home”.
This is Jeff, my partner in crime. Jeff and I have known each other for the better part of our lives, and in 2005 we decided to take a kick at the can and see what all this boyfriend/girlfriend mumbo jumbo was all about. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without Jeff. We grow together everyday, bringing out the best (and sometimes the worst ;)) in each other. Buoy Bird also wouldn’t be the blog it is today without Jeff; he is my live-in professional web designer. I love this man, and count my blessings daily to have him by my side.
Also residing under our roof are our fur-babies, Mister Ziggy Stardust and Miss Lady Stardust. These funny little creatures came into our lives in 2009, and nothing has been the same since. Between the “keep the doors closed” sign on the entrance to our apartment, and the household mantra to those with allergies that “the cats live here, you don’t”, these two loves of our lives run the show, and we’re perfectly ok with that.
I desperately love my family and friends, and have been blessed with the best of both. A lot of my closest friends and family still reside in Nova Scotia, and I miss them dearly. Although it is our intention to someday move back to the ocean and these missed people, I created Buoy Bird as a way to stay present and to nurture my creative side so that it is still there when we do have a house to call our own. But home is what you make it, and our home away from home is more than I could have ever imagined.
