406

406. Our home. It wasn’t much when we arrived, but now, it’s our world. And Jeff’s office!

Moving to Toronto was a daunting, scary thing. I’ll never forget crying as I entered the city for my first time, alone (Jeff came six months later), watching the HUGE bill boards whiz by on the monstrosity that was the 401.

our homeAfter a year long lease in a pretty, albeit mouse infested, bachelor, and after a grueling go at filling out applications, settling for things we didn’t love, and being turn down, Jeff found us 406 in the Fall of 2006. We loved it. And although we knew we’d change the paint, didn’t have enough furniture to fill out all the space, and were pretty broke, we knew that for our time in Toronto, this would be our home.

our bedroomHaving a handy man and painter for a landlord has been a wonderful gift, as he was always willing to indulge me in the paint color of my choice until I learned that I could do the “dirty work” myself. Since then, the living room has seen three coats of paint, the bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom two respectively, and most of the rooms have new light fixtures, a la Vikki.our livingroom Through late night Craigslist scores, side of the road gems, and beautiful gifts from family and friends, we have built a home that we are proud to call our own.
